Advanced violin Studies
Acclaimed by the The New York Times for her "excellent work throughout" as Tanglewood Music Center concertmaster, Breana Bauman brings the insight of a seasoned performer to both inspire beginners and develop advanced students’ confidence and artistry.
Ms. Bauman studied with multiple leaders: Malcolm Lowe and Joseph Silverstein (concertmasters of Boston Symphony Orchestra), Stephen Rose (principal second violin of Cleveland Orchestra), and Leon Spierer of Berlin Philharmonic under Karajan. She believes teaching leadership skills from the beginning will create the change-makers needed to promote peace and a better world. Her students regularly are assigned leadership roles in the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra’s multiple ensembles.

“Breana knows how to balance a strong work ethic with having a lot of fun. Our lessons are the highlight of my week!” - Polina, Suzuki Parent
Cultural exchange and travel were paramount to Ms. Bauman’s love of music. During her training, Ms. Bauman toured China and recorded three albums with the Starling Chamber Orchestra, travelled extensively through Europe and South America with Walnut Hills High School Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of the Americas, and taught in Panama during a winter term break with her Oberlin quartet. She is an avid chamber musician and salsa dancer, speaks conversational French, and has cycled solo through Scotland.
Ms. Bauman highly encourages her advanced students to broaden their experiences during the summer. They have been accepted at and/or attended the Perlman Summer Music Program, Juilliard Summer Music, Philadelphia International Music Festival, Cremona International Music Academy, Point Counterpoint, Bowdoin Institute, Kinhaven, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Walnut Hill Quartet Intensive.
